Ripped the trigger spring out of my Makita circular saw yesterday
I was cutting some 2x4s for a shed base in my driveway and the saw just stopped firing... I opened it up and found the trigger return spring had snapped clean in half. Tried to bend a paperclip to fit but it didn't have the same tension. Any tips on where to find a replacement spring that actually fits without ordering the whole assembly?

Try checking if any local hardware store carries return springs for power tools... Ace or True Value usually have a drawer of random springs that might work.

Oh man, my local Ace Hardware has this one drawer that's basically a black hole of random springs and screws lol. I swear I've spent 20 minutes digging through it before just to find something close enough to work. @seth_martinez21 you're totally right though, it's worth a shot for sure. Last time I needed a spring for my old Ryobi saw I found one that was like 90% the right size and just bent it a little with some pliers. Worked fine for another year before I gave up and bought a new saw haha.
