That sound when a gearbox strips - found out the hard way
I was taking apart this old RC car my nephew broke, and when I pulled the motor out, the plastic gear just crumbled in my hand. Happened last Thursday night around 9pm in my garage. Turns out the previous owner had glued the gear to the shaft instead of replacing it. Had to dremel out the glue and order a brass gear set for $8. Anyone else run into shoddy DIY fixes inside toys?

Last Thursday around 8pm I pulled apart a thrift store Roku remote that felt "sticky" and found someone had used hot glue to keep the rubber buttons in place, except the glue melted into the circuit board and shorted everything out. I spent like an hour scraping that goo off with a dental pick (my dentist would be horrified). Then my cat knocked the whole mess off the table and I stepped on a screw barefoot. So yeah, I feel your pain - those "creative" fixes always backfire on us, don't they?

Hot glue conducts electricity about as well as tape does, so that person had no clue what they were doing.
