Why does everything need a story? Maybe he just likes building things for the fun of it, no big meaning needed. It's a hobby, not a book report. Some people just enjoy the work of putting something together with their hands.

But what if the story IS the fun part for some people? Like, building a model ship is cool, but building YOUR grandpa's old fishing boat makes it MEAN something. Does that extra layer of meaning actually ruin the simple hobby, or just make it a different kind of hobby?
