I was at the hardware store on Montgomery and a plumber showed me a better way to clear a drain.
I was buying a drain snake for a clogged bathroom sink last week. A plumber in line saw it and said, 'Those things can scratch up your pipes pretty bad.' He told me to try a shop vac on the wet side instead. I went home, sealed the overflow hole with a wet rag, and it pulled the whole clog out in about 30 seconds. Has anyone else used a shop vac for drains here in town?

Sounds a bit over the top to me. Like, how often do clogs really need that much power? A plunger usually works fine.

That part about the plumber just telling you a better way in line is so real. I mean, the best fixes I've ever found came from random people in stores or neighbors. Like, my car made this weird noise for months, and a guy at the gas pump just pointed at my tire and said the belt was showing. Saved me a huge bill. It's like there's this whole other manual for life that isn't online, you just get it from someone who's done it before.
