Oh man, that's so real. My buddy tried to befriend his neighbor for months, just exchanging nods at the mailboxes. The big breakthrough was when they both got locked out on the same rainy afternoon and had to share an umbrella waiting for the super. Sometimes it just takes one dumb, shared moment of misery to skip past all the weather talk.

Wait hold on @the_elizabeth, sharing an umbrella with a stranger? That's wild to me. I mean, I get the whole misery loves company thing but I'd be so awkward trying to figure out how close to stand without being weird about it. And what if you both grab for the same side of the umbrella handle at the same time? That's like an instant friendship test right there. Did your buddy actually pass the umbrella test or was it just silence and wet shoulders the whole time?
