Question about splitting the bill with a friend who always orders more

My friend in Austin consistently gets extra drinks and appetizers, then wants to split evenly... I feel like I'm subsidizing their choices. Do you speak up or just let it go?

Honestly, I read a thing about just asking for separate checks upfront.

Nah, that's extra work for the server. Just split it at the end like a normal person. They have computers for that now.

I saw that tip too, but is it really that big of a deal? Most places can split a bill without a fuss if you just ask at the end.
