I was at the DMV in Austin yesterday and saw something that made me feel a lot better about myself

I had to get my car registration sorted out, which is always a pain. While I was waiting in line for like an hour, I watched a guy in front of me try to renew his license. He brought his birth certificate, a bank statement, and his social security card, but they said it wasn't enough. The worker told him he needed a utility bill too, and he just put his head in his hands. He said, 'I thought I had it all this time.' I felt so bad for him, but it also made my own mess feel smaller. It's easy to think you're the only one who can't get this stuff right. Has anyone else had a DMV trip go totally wrong even when you tried to prepare?

Oh man, that hits home. I mean, it feels like half of adult life is just guessing what paperwork some office needs and then being wrong. You see it everywhere, not just the DMV, like trying to return something without the receipt or file your taxes. It's like they make the rules just confusing enough so you can never really win, and we're all just out here looking at each other like, "You too?" Makes you feel less alone for sure.
