Tried to fix my own garbage disposal and flooded the kitchen
I watched a video and thought I could handle it, so I disconnected the unit under the sink without turning off the water first. A pipe I didn't even touch started spraying everywhere, and I had to call a plumber who charged me $220 for the emergency visit. Has anyone else had a simple DIY job blow up in their face like that?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to my neighbor last year... water shooting all over the place from some random connection. Those videos make it look so easy, but they never show the weird stuff that can go wrong. Honestly, paying the plumber hurts, but it's still cheaper than fixing water damage later. Sometimes you just have to know when to call in a pro before the simple job gets way worse.

Seriously, I've saved a fortune doing my own plumbing for years.
