Swapped my manual note-taking for an AI voice recorder on hikes

I used to scribble field notes on waterproof paper during my geology hikes in Oregon, but last month I tried an AI voice recorder that transcribes everything in real time. It caught details I'd normally miss, like the exact angle of a rock fracture, without me stopping to write. Has anyone else switched to voice notes for outdoor work and found it actually changes how you observe things?

Three hikers I know all switched to voice notes in the last month.

Has it changed how you pay attention to sounds too? I tried something similar last summer on the Pacific Crest Trail and realized I was hearing more than just my own thoughts. @violafox, the people you mentioned, did they say anything about picking up on things like wind patterns or bird calls they normally would have missed? I noticed my own recordings ended up capturing the crunch of gravel under my boots, which actually helped me remember the terrain way better than my notes ever did.
