Tried an AI photo editor that made my dog look like a hedgehog
I uploaded a picture of my labrador from last weekend and the AI kept turning his fur into spikes. Within 30 seconds it gave him hedgehog texture all over his back. I couldn't stop laughing but it also made me wonder how these models train on animal fur patterns. Has anyone else had an AI tool totally misinterpret a simple pet photo?

Actually that's kind of the point though. These tools are designed to recognize patterns and apply them, not to perfectly understand what makes a dog different from a hedgehog. The AI saw "spiky looking fur" in some training data and just went with it. Honestly this is a feature not a bug for creative tools. Maybe people expect too much from consumer AI that's basically just guessing and making things up. The fact that it made you laugh means the tool worked for its intended purpose, even if it wasn't what you wanted.

I gotta push back on that @brian_coleman. If a tool can't tell a dog from a hedgehog then it's not creative, it's just broken. You pay for something that's supposed to do a job and it gives you nonsense, that's not a feature that's a fail. People have every right to expect basic accuracy from AI that costs money.
