Just got burned by a cheap borescope for a pre-buy inspection

Spent about $80 on one from an online marketplace, and the image quality was so pixelated I couldn't reliably check cylinder walls. Ended up having to rent a proper one for $150 a day anyway. Anyone have a solid mid-range model they actually trust?

Cheap borescopes" used to be my go-to until a blurry image cost me too.

But sometimes that blurry image just shows normal wear.

Yeah those cheap ones are a total gamble. I had one where the focus was so bad it made a normal valve look cracked. Ended up missing some light pitting on a piston crown. Now I just use a Teslong with the rigid cable, the one that plugs right into your phone. The picture is way clearer and it actually holds its shape when you snake it in.
