I used to think the whole 'sub vs dub' debate was pointless
I was watching a clip from the 1998 'Cowboy Bebop' dub on YouTube and saw a comment from someone in Tokyo. They said the English script for Spike's line 'Whatever happens, happens' actually fit his character better than the more literal Japanese line. That one comment made me realize I was just picking a side without really listening. Now I try to watch the first episode both ways before I decide. How do you guys usually pick which version to watch?

Isn't it wild how one little thing can totally change your view? I had a similar moment with a different show. I was so sure the sub was the only right way, but then I heard a dubbed line that just clicked better for the scene. It made me feel pretty silly for being so stubborn. Your method of trying the first episode both ways is really smart. It takes the guesswork out and lets you actually choose what you enjoy more. I'm going to start doing that from now on.

Wait, is picking sub or dub really that deep? Like @fiona_walker14, I used to get heated about it too, but now I just pick whatever lets me chill and watch. Sometimes the dub voices sound weird, but other times reading subtitles is just extra work when I'm tired. It's just a tv show, not a life choice.
