Question about watching dub vs sub for the new Gundam series

I had to decide whether to watch the new Gundam series dubbed or subbed. I usually go with subs because I like the original voice acting, but my buddy swore the dub was solid this time. I went with the sub and then switched to the dub halfway through episode 3 to compare. The dub voices just didn't have the same emotion for me, especially Char's lines. Anyone else find one version really changes the feel of a show?

Oh man, see I gotta push back on this one a bit. I actually think the dub for the new Gundam is way more emotional in a different way. The sub voices sound kinda flat and samey to me, like they're reading off a script (and yeah, I know that's technically true for both). @patricia_singh81, I get what you're saying about the "clean" thing, but to me that makes the war setting feel more real because soldiers don't always sound like grizzled veterans. Char's dub actor actually nails that cocky arrogance better in English, makes him feel like a real person rather than a cartoon villain.

Subs all the way for me with Gundam. Tried the dub on a different series once and the voices felt too clean, like they didn't match the gritty war setting. The original voice actors have that raw edge that really sells the drama. It's wild how much a different track can flip your whole opinion on a character though, what made you pick the dub in the first place?
