Serious question, is anyone actually watching anime or just talking about it now?

I used to watch a show, finish it, and then maybe chat about it online. Now, after the first episode of 'Frieren', I spent 3 hours reading takes on the pacing before I even watched episode two. The discussion is the main event for me now. I think it changed when I joined this forum last year and got hooked on the arguments. Does anyone else feel like they're researching a show more than just enjoying it?

Yeah I totally get that. I had to stop reading episode threads until after I watch. The takes just get in my head and ruin the vibe. Now I just watch first, doomscroll later.

Honestly, it's like we're all prepping for a debate instead of watching a show. I've caught myself forming opinions based on the forum consensus before I even see the scenes they're talking about. The analysis is eating the actual experience.

The weird part is how it changes what we even notice. I watched the last episode after reading a bunch of posts about the lighting, and I swear I spent the whole time staring at the shadows in the background instead of following the story. The analysis becomes the show.
