A regular at my shop just told me he quit his job after a single meeting.

He came in for an oil change last Thursday and said his boss held a team meeting to announce they were cutting all overtime pay, effective immediately. No warning, no talk about budgets, just a flat 'this is how it is now'. He said he looked around the room, saw everyone's faces drop, and just knew he was done. He walked out, typed his resignation on his phone in the parking lot, and sent it before he even started his car. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where one thing just made you snap and walk away for good?

Wow, cutting overtime pay with zero warning is just brutal. That's not some small policy change, that's a huge pay cut for people who probably count on that money. I don't blame him one bit for walking out right then. The boss basically showed how little he valued the team all at once. Good for your regular for knowing his worth and getting out of there fast.

I saw three local shops close last month because they cut hours without talking to staff first. It feels like some bosses forget that reliable pay is the whole point of having a job. That quiet quitting trend is just people reacting to this kind of disrespect.
