Serious question, why do people put their two weeks in and then act surprised when they get walked out same day?

I watched a guy at my old warehouse job announce he was leaving for a competitor and then got all offended when security escorted him out at 10am. Has anyone else seen this play out where the person thinks they're gonna work the whole notice period?

Ive seen this happen at least 20 times at a Target distribution center I worked at. You cant be shocked when a manager walks you out after you tell them youre going to their direct competitor. The company is protecting their data, their clients, and their inside info from the second you drop that bomb. Acting offended is just wasting everyones time, you knew what you were doing when you gave that notice. If you want a clean two week exit, keep your mouth shut about where youre going and just say youre moving on.
