Quiet floors without a rug, took 2 tries but got it right

Top floor apartment has concrete slab floors. Footsteps from my own chair sounded like drums. Cheap foam mats did nothing. Then I grabbed 1cm cork tiles from the hardware store, stuck them under the desk and chair area. Cut them with a box cutter, no glue needed. Total cost around $30. Neighbor below texted me saying she could finally sleep. Anyone else try cork under furniture?

got it right" seems dramatic for 30 bucks of cork.

Ha, same here. Picked up a similar set at a garage sale for pocket change and they've held up fine for years. Everyone acts like cork is some magical material, but honestly it's just there to stop the rattling. Your mileage may vary but I'd take the cheap stuff over brand names any day.
