I finally opened my 3D modeling file from 2022 and the software won't even load it anymore.

Stripped it all down to basic shapes and rebuilt from there (way faster than trying to untangle someone else's mess). Sometimes you just gotta accept the loss and start fresh.

Caught myself overpaying escrow fees for 8 months before a broker in Omaha pointed it out

Did you end up pushing back on any other fees after that, @logan648? I ask because I've been reading through my own closing disclosure and noticed a $250 "document preparation fee" that seems like total nonsense. My lender basically said it's non-negotiable because it goes to a third party, but I'm wondering if that's just a line they use to shut people up. Like, who actually audits these third party charges to make sure they're real?

Replaced my old swamp cooler with a refrigerated air unit - was it worth the extra $4k?

4k for air conditioning in this climate feels like overkill unless you're growing orchids in your living room.

Finally admitted that my cheap grinder wheels were costing me time and money

Jumped from the cheapest Amazon wheels to some Cubitron ones last year. The difference in cut speed and how long they last blew my mind, I was dressing cheap wheels every few minutes and now I barely touch the dresser. Makes the whole weld prep smoother since the wheels don't load up or leave those ugly chatter marks.

Everybody says to use primer before painting but I skipped it on my kitchen cabinets

Did you happen to read that article from one of those home improvement blogs about how some oak has a lot of natural oils that mess with paint sticking? I swear I saw something like that after I did my cabinets. It explained why some people get away with no primer and others don't. I think your dresser might have had that problem. The tannins in the wood can bleed through and cause peeling even with decent sanding. So my two year success might be more about the specific wood type than me being some painting genius. Sorry your dresser didn't work out, but it might not have been your fault.
