Reading the manual on a 10-year-old Bosch dishwasher revealed the drain pump filter should be cleaned monthly, not yearly
Found it buried on page 18 of the PDF I downloaded. How many service calls are just from people ignoring that one line?

What about the furnace filter? I went two years without changing mine until the heat stopped working. The repair guy showed me a brick of dust and fur.
