Appreciation post: A landscaper friend said my pruning cuts were too aggressive
He pointed out a sugar maple I trimmed last fall, saying the tree was putting all its energy into sealing wounds instead of new growth. Has anyone else had a client or colleague change how you approach a common technique?

Trees are tough, though.

They are until they aren't. You get a bad storm or a beetle blight, @the_joseph, and they go down easy. Seen it happen. Roots can only do so much. Tough is a temporary thing for them.

Yeah, exactly. It's like @the_joseph said, we call things tough right up until they break.
