I finally saw the excavation photos from 2015 vs last summer at Tel Gezer

They cleared a whole section of mudbrick wall that was just a shadow before. Only 6 years difference but the drone shots show the whole layout now. Anyone else surprised how fast these sites degrade once exposed?

Buddy watched a dig collapse two weeks after they uncovered it... crazy fragile.

Wait, that actually happened? I used to think once you uncovered a dig it was pretty much stable, but hearing about one going down two weeks later is wild. Saw a video of a trench collapse a few months back and it looked like the dirt just gave out like wet sand. Makes you realize how much weight is just sitting there ready to move. Definitely gonna be more careful now about trusting the ground after an excavation.
