My neighbor said 'just ask, the worst they can say is no' and it actually worked

I was trying to figure out how to get a permit for a backyard project and kept hitting dead ends online. He told me to literally walk into city hall and ask the front desk person, which I did yesterday in Springfield. They gave me the exact form I needed in 5 minutes. When's the last time a simple piece of advice actually solved a problem for you?
