Unpopular opinion: That $700 Glasurit paint job I did on a Honda saved me a headache

I spent 700 bucks on a gallon of Glasurit clear coat for a Honda Accord last month, and I'm still split on whether it was worth it. On one hand, the stuff flowed like butter and I didn't have to sand out any runs or orange peel. Saved me maybe 2 hours of wet sanding and buffing. But then the customer still complained about the price being too high, even though the finish looked like a mirror. The other side is I could've used a $150 house brand clear and pulled off a decent job with some extra work. But that extra work adds up too, especially when you're juggling three cars in the shop in Phoenix during summer. I'm thinking maybe the premium stuff only pays off if you're doing high-end cars, not daily drivers. Has anyone else dropped serious money on paint materials and regretted it or felt it saved your tail later?

Never thought about it that way before, but you're probably right.

Honestly never even occurred to me either until I really sat with it. So does that mean you think most people are just going along with what everyone else says without actually thinking it through? Like are we all just recycling the same opinions because it's easier than figuring out our own take on stuff?
