Spent $380 on a fancy scan tool and honestly I'm torn on if it was worth it

Ngl, I bought a $380 Autel scanner 6 months ago thinking it would replace my old cheap one and save me time. It did solve a weird ABS issue on a 2014 F-150 that my other tool couldn't even read, so that part paid for itself. But then it took me 20 minutes to navigate the menus for a simple code clear, and the old one was just plug and go. I had a seasoned tech tell me 'you don't need all that, just get a $50 code reader and a good multimeter.' Half the features I paid for I never touch, like the battery test and oil reset stuff. For a solo mechanic doing basic repairs, is the extra money actually worth the saved headaches, or am I just a sucker for shiny screens? Has anyone else dropped big cash on a tool that ended up being overkill for their daily work?

Man that's a tough one, lol. I feel you on the menu navigation thing, I borrowed a friend's high end scan tool once and spent way too long just trying to find the live data screen for a basic 02 sensor issue. It's like they make the simple stuff buried under a million tabs for no reason. The ABS thing is a big win though, those older Fords can be picky about which reader talks to them at all. Sometimes the extra money is just insurance for the one weird car that shows up, even if you hate using it the other 99 times.
