Hit $500 in savings from saying 'no' to family loans

I finally did it. After 8 months of telling my siblings I couldn't lend them money for random stuff, I saved $500. That's a big deal for me because I used to feel guilty and just hand over cash. Last week my cousin asked for $100 for a concert ticket in Austin and I said I had a firm rule now. It's not much to some people but it felt like a win. How do you guys stick to your boundaries without hurting feelings?

Yo, nice work! That's legit hard to do with family. I just tell people I'm broke too, even when I'm not, and change the subject quick. It's awkward for like 10 seconds then they move on. You gotta protect your own wallet first.

family comes first man, you're gonna regret this when you need them.
