Hit $5,000 in my emergency fund last Tuesday and it felt weirdly awkward

I finally saved up 3 months of expenses and when I told my mom about it she got all defensive about her own credit card debt. Have you guys had family react weird when you share a money milestone?

Money makes some people feel bad about their own choices.

The Forbes study from 2023 actually showed that most people feel bad about money because of comparisons, not the money itself. Seeing someone else's vacation photos or new car just triggers that little voice saying you should be doing better. It's really more about social pressure than the cash in your wallet.
