My uncle said the West Rim Trail in Pennsylvania was too easy. He was dead wrong.
He called it a 'walk in the park' and said to skip it. I did the full 30 miles last fall and the rock scrambles near Pine Creek nearly broke me. Anyone else have a route that was way tougher than people said?

Tell your uncle he's nuts! That West Rim Trail is no joke. Those scrambles by Pine Creek had me questioning all my life choices. My own big mistake was trusting a friend who said Mount Marcy was a casual day hike. My legs felt like jelly for a week after that so-called 'casual' climb.

Mount Marcy as a day hike sounds brutal. What was the actual mileage and elevation gain your friend gave you? People throw around numbers that sound easy until you're halfway up with no turn around point.
