My rain barrel plumbing took 4 months because I ignored the overflow valve
I set up a basic 55 gallon rain barrel system off my shed in March thinking it was a weekend job. Turns out the overflow line kept backing up into the foundation because I didn't account for the downspout pitch, and it took me until July to actually read the instructions on the diverter kit. Probably the dumbest part was that the fix was a $6 elbow fitting from Home Depot in Austin, but I kept trying to patch it with duct tape and prayer. Has anyone else fought a simple gravity feed problem way longer than the actual build took?

My downspout did the same thing last year, took me three months to realize the hose was kinked.
