Told my neighbor her rooster was too loud and she laughed in my face

I live in a subdivision outside Austin with a 3 chicken limit per house. She's got 6 hens and a rooster. I tried being nice about it, asked if she could keep him quiet during early morning hours. She said and I quote "Roosters gonna crow, deal with it." So I called code enforcement. Turns out roosters are banned outright in our HOA. She had to rehome him. Now she won't talk to me. I don't feel bad. She knew the rules. Has anyone else had a neighbor refuse to follow local chicken laws?

Well honestly, good for you for following through. If someone laughs in your face over a reasonable request, they're basically daring you to call them on it. But here's what I'm wondering - did you give her any warning before you called code enforcement, or did you just go straight to the authorities? Because that might explain why she's so mad now. I mean, you were nice about it first, but did you tell her you'd actually report her if she didn't fix it? Sometimes people think you're bluffing and then act shocked when you're not.
