Wasted $80 on those fancy nesting box liners

Bought a pack of those padded nesting box liners from a farm supply place last month. They were supposed to make cleaning easier and keep eggs clean. After two days my hens had shredded them all and kicked the pieces into the run. Stuck with basic straw now and it works fine. Anyone else had bad luck with those things or did I just get a bad brand?

and my hens treated those liners like a personal challenge, honestly felt like I paid them to tear stuff up for fun. guess they just prefer the rustic straw life like me.

Read somewhere that chickens actually prefer tearing things up because its in their nature to forage and destroy. They get bored with easy setups and like a little chaos in their lives. So yeah, the straw life is probably more fun for them even if its messier for us.
