I used to be a ketchup-on-everything person until I ruined a $28 steak at Outback in 2019

I used to drench everything in ketchup, burgers fries eggs whatever. Then I went to Outback Steakhouse in Tampa with my buddy Mark and ordered their 10 oz sirloin. I poured ketchup all over it and the waitress just stared at me like I kicked a puppy. Mark said "dude you just killed a $28 steak" and I realized I had been covering up bad cooking my whole life. Now I only use ketchup on fries and even that feels weird sometimes. Anyone else have a food habit they had to unlearn?

dude you just killed a $28 steak" is brutal but also kind of hilarious.

That "dude you just killed a $28 steak" line really nails it, @the_sandra. Like, there's no coming back from that, you ruined a meal that cost more than most people's whole grocery trip. It's the kind of truth you can't argue with, just pure facts delivered at the worst possible moment.
