Was at an AHL game in Peoria last month when the ref disallowed the tying goal because the net was knocked loose, and everyone around me was screaming he should have let it stand since our guy got pushed into the crease, so which is it: protect the goalie or protect the moment?
Watched my beer league ref call a goal back once because the net was "breathing" too hard, so honestly I have no clue either. Guess it just comes down to whether the puck crossed before the net moved, which nobody in the stands can ever actually see. Feels like the refs flip a coin and we all just yell about it after.
