Spent 6 hours fighting a sourdough starter that was totally fine

I kept thinking my starter was dead because it wasn't bubbling like the videos, but it just needed 3 more days at a warmer spot by the radiator. Has anyone else had a starter stall out because of a cold kitchen in winter?

Oh man, the cold kitchen struggle is so real. I had the same panic my first winter with sourdough. That radiator trick is exactly what saved mine too. I just popped it on top of the fridge where it was a bit warmer and it perked right up. A lot of folks don't realize that slow rise isn't always a dead starter, it just needs a warmer spot to do its thing. Did you end up getting that nice rise after moving it to the radiator?

Actually I should mention that putting it on top of the fridge might not be the BEST spot for everyone. My fridge gives off heat from the back and sides, not the top, so mine stayed cold up there. I actually had better luck putting it in the oven with just the light on, that kept it at about 78 degrees consistently. The radiator trick works great but you gotta watch it doesn't get TOO hot. I killed one starter that way, left it too close and it cooked part of it.
