Vent: my bank rep told me I was 'overcomplicating' investing

Had a meeting with my Chase banker last Tuesday about moving some savings into a brokerage account. He kept pushing their managed funds with a 1.2% fee, saying it's easier than picking stocks myself. But my brother uses Fidelity and pays almost nothing for index funds, so I asked about that. The banker got defensive and said brokers just make it confusing on purpose. Now I'm wondering if the convenience of a bank is worth giving up 1% every year. Anyone else run into this wall with their bank vs going to a broker directly?

Ditching my bank for Vanguard was the best move I ever made.
