Serious question, why do so many barbers rush through the neck shave?

I watched a guy in my old shop give a client razor burn every single time because he'd use the same blade for three full neck shaves. It's not just about speed, it's about the finish. Anyone else have a specific rule for changing blades?

What's the actual cost difference for them, a few cents per blade? I've seen guys try to stretch a single blade over multiple hot towel shaves, and the client's skin always pays the price. Is it just shop owners pushing for every last bit of profit, or is there some old-school belief that a slightly dull blade is better?

My uncle ran a shop for forty years and he always said a fresh blade for every neck shave was non-negotiable. He'd fire a guy on the spot for reusing one. It's pure laziness, not cost. A dull blade drags and you have to press harder, which is exactly how you give someone a rash that lasts a week. That old-school belief about a duller blade being safer is total nonsense.
