TIL a simple 'thank you' at the register beats a forced script any day
Our manager made us read a whole greeting card spiel for a month, but I noticed my tips went up 15% when I just looked people in the eye and said a genuine thanks. Has anyone else's store tried to push a script that just made things feel fake?

Can you just keep doing what works?

@jason958 asks the real question, huh? Honestly, the only way I could "keep doing what works" is if I had a full-time assistant just to physically stop me from messing with things. Idk, maybe it's just me but my brain treats a good system like a puzzle that needs to be broken. I mean, it took me three tries to just stick with the same brand of toothpaste once, so good luck.

My entire life is proof that I can't. I had a perfect morning routine for two weeks, then I decided to "optimize" it and now I'm back to chaos. If something works, my brain immediately goes, yeah but what if we messed with it. It's a real problem. I mean, I once fixed a wobbly table with a coaster and then took the whole thing apart trying to make it "better." Ended up with a pile of wood and a very stable coaster.
