PSA: Stop watching 3 shows at once and focus on one

I used to juggle like 4 different series at the same time, thinking I was saving time. Then last month I tried watching just one show - The Expanse season 1 - from start to finish without switching. I finished it in 4 days and actually remembered the plot details. Anyone else find they enjoy shows way more when they stick to one at a time?

Yeah I actually just read something about this the other day. There was this article talking about how our brains are not built for multitasking when it comes to stories. Apparently each time you switch between shows your brain has to reload the whole context of the story, the characters, the setting, all that stuff. So you're basically wasting mental energy every time you jump back in. That's probably why Paul over there mentioned finishing The Expanse in 4 days made everything stick so well. The article said binging actually helps your brain form stronger connections with the plot because you're not constantly resetting your short term memory. It's like the difference between reading a chapter of a book every night versus reading the whole thing in one weekend. The few times I've tried watching multiple shows at once I constantly had to check Wikipedia to remember who was who.

Finishing one show fast makes the plot stick way better in my head.

Does this apply to other stuff too joseph529? I've noticed when I'm learning a new skill or even just reading a book if I power through it fast the whole thing makes more sense than dragging it out over weeks. Getting the full shape of something quick keeps all the pieces fresh and connected in your head before you start forgetting little details.
