Warning: I spent $75 on a board game expansion that just collects dust

The new mechanics sounded cool online, but they made the base game way too slow and fiddly for our group. Anyone else buy an add-on that totally ruined a game you liked?

Honestly, that expansion saved our game nights from getting stale.

Funny how the same box can be a lifeline for one group and a doorstop for another. It really comes down to the people at the table.

Ugh, same thing happened with the first expansion for Everdell. We loved the base game, but the extra board and all the new rules just killed the flow. It turned a fun, tight game into a total slog where everyone lost track of what they were doing. That box has been sitting on the shelf for a year now, completely untouched. It's a real shame because the new cards looked so pretty.
