inJust blew $400 on a 'universal' turbo rebuild kit that didn't fit a single thing in my bay
Ugh, this is so true everywhere now! It's like you have to be a detective just to buy basic stuff. The real source is always hidden behind three different company names.

inGot called out for my terrible time zone juggling...
My old boss tried to make us answer emails from Singapore at all hours, and I thought that was just how it worked. Reading what gray117 said about the anxiety fading after a week is totally true. I finally set a hard stop at 6pm my time, and after a few days of panic, I realized nothing actually burned down. That Berlin client did you a favor by being blunt about it. Protecting your own sleep is way more important than pretending to be available 24/7.

inHeard a guy at the dock in Charleston say 'if the pump's not screaming, you're not cleaning' and I think that's bad advice.
That pump in Charleston is probably running at like 3000 PSI. I mean, you can absolutely clean a boat deck without making the pump sound like it's dying. That's how you blow out seals and end up with a huge repair bill. Maybe it's just me but that advice sounds like a quick way to break your gear.

inI swapped my car for a bike for a month in Seattle and it changed my whole view
Whoa, that snack thing is so real. It makes me think about when I got rid of my car for a while and my whole weekend routine fell apart. I used to just drive to the mall or a store when I was bored, and suddenly I had to actually plan my time. I ended up reading a lot more books I already owned instead of buying new stuff. It's wild how much of our spending is just tied to being able to go somewhere easy.
