Finally admitted that my cheap grinder wheels were costing me time and money

I spent the last 6 months using 20 dollar wheels from Harbor Freight because I thought the brand name stuff was overpriced (I was trying to save a buck, you know?). After a job in Gary where I had to stop 4 times to dress a wheel that kept glazing over, I borrowed a buddy's Norton wheel and finished the whole seam in one go without stopping. Has anyone else made the switch from cheap wheels and noticed a real difference in how smooth your welds come out?

My neighbor actually runs a grinding wheel sharpening business and says cheap wheels ruin your grinder bearings over time.

Jumped from the cheapest Amazon wheels to some Cubitron ones last year. The difference in cut speed and how long they last blew my mind, I was dressing cheap wheels every few minutes and now I barely touch the dresser. Makes the whole weld prep smoother since the wheels don't load up or leave those ugly chatter marks.
