That book club meeting at the public library broke me of my genre snobbery

Back in 2019 at the downtown branch on 5th street, we were discussing a romance novel by this author named Jasmine Guillory. I went in ready to trash it, but then the discussion leader pointed out how the character arcs were actually tighter than some of the literary fiction we'd read. It made me realize I'd been skipping whole genres for like 6 years without giving them a fair shot. Has anyone else had a meeting that totally flipped how you pick your next read?

Give the discussion leader credit next time... they usually earn their pay.

Yeah, @kelly.parker has a point, leading a discussion is harder than it looks.
