Oh man, that's brutal. I once dripped coffee on a signed copy of "The Great Gatsby" and wanted to just crawl into a hole.

crawl into a hole" - honestly that's way too dramatic for an accident. Books get damaged all the time, it's not the end of the world. A first edition with some hide glue on it might even add character for some collectors.
