My boss insisted we all buy this $200 'productivity' course he swore by.

It was just a repackaged time management PDF you can find for free. Anyone else had a manager push useless paid training on the team?

Wait he made you pay for it yourself? That's wild. My old job at least paid for the useless seminars. Bosses really think we can't google this stuff.

Yeah my last boss had us pay for a "team building" ropes course. I still have the receipt, 300 bucks to learn I'm scared of heights.

Actually you said "we can't google this stuff" but honestly you can google most of it. A quick search on conflict resolution or communication skills gives you the same tips those 200 dollar seminars push. It's not exactly rocket science.
