Vent: Brake line burst on a mountain pass and I almost went over

I was coming down from Loveland Pass in Colorado last month, about halfway through a 12 mile descent. Hit the brakes for a tight hairpin and my pedal went straight to the floor. No warning, no squishy feeling before, just nothing. I managed to downshift and use the engine brake while pumping like crazy, barely made the turn. Got to the bottom and found a rusted spot on the rubber line where it was rubbing against the strut. Replaced all four lines with stainless braided ones that weekend. Cost me $140 total but worth every penny. Anyone else had a line fail without any signs beforehand?

Wait, did you check the other rubber sections too? I had a similar scare on my old truck where one line looked fine but the other three were corroded under the outer layer where you couldn't see it.

Wait, did you check the other rubber sections too?" Yeah, I found the other three had that same hidden rust after I started pulling them off. Guess my car wanted to test my emergency braking skills before I became a hood ornament.
