Guy at the dump taught me to test logic boards with a multimeter before soldering
Dropped off an old motherboard at the recycling center last Tuesday and this older fella saw the burnt chip, told me he checks every pin for shorts before he even touches a iron. Said his board repair success rate went from maybe 20% to 80% just by doing that one step. Anyone else skip the meter and regret it later, or am I the only one who likes gambling with $40 parts?

My buddy Dave blew through three logic boards last year before he finally bought a $15 multimeter and started checking pins first. That dump guy's got the same mindset as my mechanic, who always checks the fuel pump relay before tearing apart the whole engine. It's wild how the cheap, boring step is the one that saves you the most money and headache. We all want to jump straight to the dramatic soldering fix, but the real skill is knowing when to slow down and look. Half the time the problem is something dumb you could've caught in two minutes with a simple test.
