I bought a big bag of dried beans and let them sit for way too long

I got a five pound bag of black beans for a good price, but I never got around to cooking them. They sat in my pantry for over a year and when I finally opened them, they were full of little bugs. I had to throw the whole bag out, which was about eight dollars wasted. Has anyone found a good way to store big bags of dry goods so this doesn't happen?

Over a year" isn't that crazy for dry goods. Bugs can get into anything no matter how you store it. The real problem was just buying a bag that big without a solid plan to use it.

Yeah and honestly... who even has the space for a bag that big. It's like buying in bulk just to have it take over a pantry corner forever.
