Tried freezing leftover chili in ice cube trays for portion control and it backfired hard
I thawed a cube last night and ended up with chili flavored ice water since the bag wasn't sealed tight. How do you guys freeze single servings without turning everything into a frosty mess?

Did you thaw it in the fridge or just leave it on the counter? Because the bag seal matters less if it's still partially frozen when you go to eat it. I usually wrap each cube in a double layer of plastic wrap before putting it in a freezer bag. Keeps the chili taste strong.

Wrap each cube in double plastic wrap? Man, I'm over here lucky if I remember to put the chili in a bag at all before I freeze it. I've definitely just thrown a whole tub of chili in the freezer before and then had to chip at it with a butter knife like some kind of cave person. Most of my freezer bags end up with a little bit of freezer burn because I never get the air out properly. It's a whole system I should really get together someday, but for now it's just chili roulette.
