Tried meal prepping Sunday vs Wednesday and one was way cheaper
I used to do all my meal prep on Sunday afternoons. Spend like 3 hours cooking everything for the week. But I noticed I was throwing out a lot of stuff by Thursday or Friday. Last month I switched to prepping just 3 days at a time on Wednesday nights. Turns out I waste way less food and spend about $15 less per week because I'm not overbuying ingredients that go bad. Has anyone else noticed a difference with how far out you prep?

Honestly I used to think Sunday prep was the only way to go, thought splitting it up would be more hassle. But this actually makes a lot of sense when you think about how fast some stuff goes bad in the fridge. I'm kind of sold on trying the Wednesday thing too.

Sunday prep has been working for me for over 5 years and I actually spend less than you. The trick is knowing what stays good. I prep chicken, rice, roasted veggies, and hard boiled eggs on Sunday and they all last fine until Saturday. You just gotta pick the right foods. Fresh herbs and fish and stuff like that obviously go bad fast, but those are for the meals you eat Monday and Tuesday. I freeze half my prepped food right away and pull it out Wednesday night. No waste, same amount of time cooking, and I never have to do a second prep session midweek when I'm already tired from work.
