Spent $60 on a meal prep service for one week and saved $40 on takeout

I finally caved and paid for a weekly meal prep box after spending way too much on DoorDash last month. The box cost $60 for 5 dinners, but my usual takeout habit was running me about $100 a week. I still had to cook a little, but not having to decide what to eat saved my wallet and my sanity. Anyone else try this and find it actually sticks?

Your mileage may vary but $40 in savings isn't exactly life changing money. If you're spending $100 on DoorDash weekly you might have a bigger lifestyle issue than meal prep services. Not trying to be harsh but that's like skipping one dinner out and calling it a win. Seems like the real fix is just cooking from scratch more often. That box is still pretty pricey compared to buying your own groceries.

Oh wow, "had to cook a little" got me. I mean, idk, that part would probably be a dealbreaker for me personally. For $60 I'd want someone to hand me a plate and say "go eat," not make me finish the job myself. But I guess the math works out if you were spending $100 on takeout, that's a solid $40 saved. Maybe it's just me but the whole "still cook a little" thing feels like they're getting you halfway there and then dropping the ball. I'd probably end up ordering takeout on the nights I didn't feel like doing that last step.
