Stumbled on a stat that made me rethink my daily lunch habit

Honestly, I was scrolling through some personal finance blog last week and found out the average person spends like $2,500 a year on takeout coffee and lunches. I do the math on my own routine and realized I'm dropping about $12 a day on fast food near my office. That's over $3,000 a year just for mediocre sandwiches and lattes. Has anyone else had that moment where a number like that hit way harder than you expected?

$12 a day adds up stupid fast. Packing lunch hurt for like a week then just became normal.

Yeah but $12 is actually on the low end if you're buying lunch out in a city. Where I am you're looking at $15 minimum for a basic sandwich and drink combo, more like $18-20 if you want anything hot. My thing is packing lunch didn't just save me money, I started eating way better too. Leftovers from dinner work great, or I do a big batch of soup on Sunday and portion it out. Takes maybe 20 minutes of prep and I'm eating healthier stuff than whatever drive-thru option I would have grabbed. Though I will admit the first week is rough because your morning routine has to shift a little.
